Kathryn Jenson White
Executive Director
Kathryn is an assistant professor of journalism in the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication as well as serving as executive director of Oklahoma Scholastic Media/OIPA. She teaches a variety of courses, including Introduction to Mass Media Writing, Magazines: Editing to Production and Feature Writing. She is also on the faculty of the Film and Video Studies Program, where she teaches Writing About Film.
Before taking this position, Kathryn served as adviser for "Sooner" yearbook for eight years. Before coming to OU, Kathryn taught in the mass communication departments and advised the student newspapers at Oklahoma Baptist University and Oklahoma City University.
She is a freelance writer and editor for newspapers and magazines and a public relations consultant who produces a number of educational and organizational publications.
Kathryn is the author of a humor book called “Redneckin': A Hell-Raisin', Foot-Stompin' Guide to Dancin', Dippin' and Doin' Around in a Gen-U-Wine Country Way” and of hundreds of feature stories for local, regional and national magazines and newspapers. She has written extensively for Oklahoma Today and for Sooner Magazine since 1983. She was a freelance humor columnist for The Oklahoma Gazette for five years and a free-lance film critic for The Oklahoman for four years.
Kathryn earned her bachelor's in English at California State University, Fullerton, and her master's in English at Boston University. |
